A Lost Day (Poem)

A day which I have lost,
The past which is now impossible to change.
The time which I’ve no control over,
Few moments which are now out of my range.

Chances which were always screwed up,
Opportunities which were often messed up with.
I wish it’d ended up as a nightmare,
I wish it’d be just a myth.

I wish I could’ve got back in the time,
And done it all a better way.
If I could’ve reconstructed the moments,
Or simply undone them & walked away.

Wondering what life would have been like,
If it all had somehow worked out.
It’d be damn better than whatever I’ve seen,
I can say that without any doubt.

But the day had been done,
And I was being lost in an empty space.
Until I heard a faint footfall,
And turned around to see a face.

There was a face with a grace,
And beautifully charming eyes.
It was continuously beaming at me,
As if trying to give me some advice.

Silently telling me that present is
Something which I need to emphasize.
And that faint yet deep smile
Was enough to make me realize.

For the yesterday which is now
unchangeable; I needed not to repent.
Yeah, past was important as well,
But not enough to ruin my present.

In regret of losing that lost day,
I was losing another one.
In memories of missed stars & the moon,
I was missing the better sun.

The face was soon seen nowhere,
As if, in air, it just vanished.
But it’ll be always thanked for lighting up,
The hope which I’d almost perished.
